SuperBanker Advises Local Graduates on New Car Financing
11-08-2017
Hero Times Editor: We’ve been hearing from some of the graduates in the Permian Basin about this really smart guy in a red cape who has helped them with information about financing their first car.
By chance, would that be you, SuperBanker?
SuperBanker: Please, call me SB. And, I’m not one to brag, but yes, I have been chatting with a lot of grads on the subject of how to finance that first car. I mean, that’s a big step and all with just getting started on their own. Some of these graduates are starting new jobs and need a reliable ride to get there.
Hero Times Editor: That makes total sense, Super Banker. Too bad I didn’t know you back when I graduated. So, what kind of advice do you give these kids?
SuperBanker: That’s an easy question. I tell them to go to their nearest First Basin Credit Union and first of all, open an account if they don’t already have one. Then meet with one of the super nice, super cool First Basin Member Representatives and tell them what they want to do. Just mention SB sent you. What’s the phrase? “Knowledge is power.” Come and get you some knowledge.
Hero Times Editor: What happens if these kids don’t have enough credit to get a new car loan? Can that be a problem?
SuperBanker: Well, only if they have never had a job but most kids have worked summer jobs for sure. I know I did! Having a good down payment and purchasing used instead of new is a great start. Then going to see a First Basin Member Representative to pull a credit report and walk through it with them. From there, they can take the next step by getting a Credit Booster Loan or a low limit Classic Credit Card. If they don’t have any other option and need a car immediately, then co-signing is a last resort. But remember, if you don’t pay then Momma has to pay, and trust me you don’t want to see Momma angry! The best thing is, once these graduates have a new car loan with First Basin Credit Union, and they make regular payments and such, then they are on their way to having even better credit. Down the road they may want to buy a house or something. Anyway, these kids are on their way to a great financial future with a little help from the folks at First Basin Credit Union, all it takes is a little patience!
Hero Times Editor: Thanks, SB. It sounds like you’re sharing good advice with local graduates about how to have a good financial future. Until next time…Oh, and take care of that cape!
